Ingredient Analysis: Ensuring Purity and Compliance

Why verifying your raw materials is the first step towards a safe and compliant cosmetic product.

Ingredient Analysis: Ensuring Purity and Compliance

Microbiological quality is not just a one-time check; it's a batch-by-batch obligation. Contaminated cosmetics can cause serious infections, especially in eyes or on damaged skin.

What We Test For

Routine batch release testing typically includes:

  • Total Aerobic Mesophilic Count (TAMC): The total number of bacteria.
  • Total Yeast and Mold Count (TYMC): The total number of fungi.
  • Specific Pathogens: Absence of E. coli, P. aeruginosa, S. aureus, and C. albicans in 1g or 1ml.

Acceptable Limits (ISO 17516)

Category 1: Products specifically intended for children under 3 years, to be used in the eye area, or on mucous membranes.

  • TAMC + TYMC: ≤ 100 CFU/g or ml
  • Pathogens: Absent

Category 2: Other products.

  • TAMC + TYMC: ≤ 1,000 CFU/g or ml
  • Pathogens: Absent
